ASFA is a program designed to investigate ritual practices in Africa, and the role art serves as a living archive for the knowledge informing them. Beyond documentation, ASFA evokes sensory and intellectual encounters that echo the complexity, ambiguity and transformative potential of these traditions. Using film, video, photography and text, ASFA bridges indigenous knowledge systems embedded in African mythologies with the realities of contemporary Africa.​
